4.5 Documenting Outputs and Results
This section explains the principles of documenting the achievement of project outputs and results.
Robust documentation of output and result achievements is important for several reasons:
To capture the impact of the project on stakeholders in the NPA area (transnational added value).
To justify the use of ERDF and ERDF equivalent funding (accountability, value-for-money).
To allow for a wider promotion of the project’s outputs and results on regional, national, and European level.
To increase the uptake of outputs and thereby the project’s impact.
In the application form, main projects and larger lump sum projects have outlined which outputs and results they intend to deliver, with corresponding output and result indicator targets.
Projects are expected to report on the achievement of output and result indicators through project reports.
For each counted output or result, documentation needs to be provided in line with the minimum documentation requirements for the relevant indicator, see Annexes 6.1 and 6.2 output and result indicator definitions.
Besides documenting the achievement of the indicator, projects are also asked to describe the impact of the project’s results, through a typology of impacts, a stakeholder testimonial and a story demonstrating the project’s impacts.
Note: All output and result documentation must comply with publicity requirements and open access of results, as outlined in chapter 2.5.4.
Checklists
To document the achievement of an output or result, projects are expected to complete a checklist in the corresponding project report in Jems. The checklists are designed according to the relevant indicator definition, making it easier to meet the indicator requirements.
The Interreg NPA will use the information provided through the checklists as supporting documentation for the achieved indicators, which are reported to the European Commission to monitor the progress of the programme. In addition, the Interreg NPA will use the information to promote project results, both in the programme area, as well as in a wider European context.
If instructed to do so in the checklist, additional templates, such as spreadsheets or the testimonial template, can be found in the Download Centre. These templates should be uploaded together with the relevant Output or Result.
An example of how to document outputs and results is provided in the table below.
