5. Project types & expectations

There are three types of youth projects. Each type has different goals and is designed for organisations with different experience and ambition levels.

SEE IT! - 6-month long projects – are expected to map and connect with organisations working with youth across the Northern Periphery and Arctic region, and to better understand their expertise. Their activities are focused on identifying relevant organisations, establishing contacts, mapping experience, etc. Suitable for: Organisations new to working with partners from other countries.

SHAPE IT! - 12-month long projects – are expected to explore whether good practices from other regions or communities can be adapted to the partners’ own contexts, and to identify the next steps needed for their implementation at local, regional, or national level. Here, activities focus more on testing ideas, sharing know-how, and transnational exchanges to demonstrate how to apply knowledge locally. Suitable for: Organisations with some experience.

MAKE IT WORK - 18-month long project – are expected to focus on how to put tested good practices into use at local, regional, or national level through broader or more advanced piloting, supported by targeted communication activities. Your questions

Can I change the type of a project once it starts?

No. Once your project starts, you cannot change its type. For example, you cannot turn an 18-month project into a 12-month one. This would require changing the budget, timeline, activities, and results too much, so it would no longer be the same project that was approved. But you can still make changes to your project while it runs. For more information on project changes, see section 4.2 Changes in the project.
